Total Feet is the essence of a passion in sports orthotics and footwear.

It all started with skiboots. Born in the Canadian Rockies, Mark as a "technicien orthopediste" ( or podiatrist) has been working for over 25 years in the sports footwear  segment.

All  started in a local sports sport in Banff, Alberta, as a salesperson eager to solve the fitting problems in mountain hiking, mountaineering and skiboots of the customers than working behind a ski bench
.
Early  80’s  he returns  in France, Mark has worked in the most prestigious sports shop in Courchevel as ski boot technician and,  as technical rep for  HANSON ski boots, (the most innovative skiboot ever designed)

1985-1994 10 years  at Hofstteter Sports Geneva, the city's leading  sports shop

1987 he  undergoes  podiatry at the French podiatry school in Marseilles and establishes the first sports podiatry center located in a sports shop. using innovative heat sensitive materials and PODIATECH process for all sports orthotics.
His technical approach combining the biomechanical gesture, the pathology as well as the innovative technical process will enable Mark to cooperate with a team of more than 20 local sports physicians.
 He has made an average of 500 sports orthotics per year on prescription. His clientele ranged from the regional soccer player to the most famous elite tennis players ( Swiss and French).

Custom fitting winter alpin sports boot was in full swing at that time. If you wanted a comfortable pair of ski boots you had to rely on your bootfitter : shell expansion, custom foam liners ( Conform’able by SIDAS ) and the first thermo liners were out on the market.

Word about Mark’s know-how and expertise starts to spread out of the region, ski instructors, regional and national ski team racers , snowboarders, mountain climbers, as well as other sports elites.

1994-2000   Product Manager Conform'able- SIDAS  The swiss distributor asks Mark to take over the  national product development. He sets  a Bootfitting Technician Certification program for the Swiss market. More than 500 salesperson will follow a complete training program in Aclens (Vaud) and through the basic regional training sessions. This has enabled Coform’able to reinforce its leadership in the custom fitting sector for sports shops

Posturology


By definition , the human body is in a contact relation within its physical environment through his feet. This, while not only in motion but as well in a static stance. His postural system allows him not only to stand upright in his spatial environment, to locate himself within his environment.

Some sports will necessitate a constant feet control of the different information’s received and transmitted by your feet to provide the best power motion.

Skiing for example, the human body doesn’t travel through normal foot motion, but is transported by the means of 2 rectangular segment enabling him to glide downhill. Our lower limb section must transmit mechanical impulses in order to steer and control the skis.
The foot ` s function is essential. It must be able to provide an combined and harmonious muscular movement to the skis . Our body balance greatly relies on how well our feet are positioned in the ski boot.

Total Feet has created an postural measurement plate form allowing to calibrate your body posture on your own skis. The correct alignment of your body as well as your feet in your boots will be done by inserting special custom shims or wedges    (from 1mm to 5mm) onto your custom molded orthotic, and adjusting the mechanical parts of your boot.

The CENTAURE - LOCOMETRIX© enables to measure the acceleration close to the human body center of gravity. The tri axial accelerometer will collect the following information :

Stride pattern, stride coordination, medio lateral instability, gait constraint such as shock analysis and mechanical power and energy expenditure during the recording.

Before, sports orthotics were made out of leather, cork , stiff plastic and even in steel.

For the past 20 years the thermo molding technology (molding process integrating heat sensitive materials) has greatly improved in terms of the different material used in sports orthotics. Liner Selection


Your internal liner may be easily replaced by custom molded liners. This technique will allow you to get your "Personnalized ski boots" while using a standard shell.

Actually 2 different liner categories are available depending on your ski level and your expectations :

Thermo liner by Intuition

Made out of closed cells EVA foam specifically designed to be moldable, flexible for users at all levels. The liner has a defined thickness and foam density.
The molding process requires to heat up the liner in an air pulsed oven for 15 mn.
During this lap of time , the foam cells with expand , providing the liner a greater volume and become overall malleable ( thermo molding process) We wrap liner around the foot, gently slide the foot into the shell, and buckle up the boot.
During the cooling process ( 20mn ) the liner will mold to the inner volume between the foot and the shell.
Advantages :
Lightweight liner, warm ( EVA foam), suitable for most comfort range ski boots , mountaineering boots and snowboard boots

Caution : Lately the thermo liner has become a common product used by several skiboot manufactor’s. The thermo liner performance depends on the EVA technical standard and its density. A lot of customers have regretfully discovered this after using their their boot purchased with a standard thermoliner...

Foam injected liner by Conform'able-Sidas

The "Custom Made" liner by definition.

A chemical PU foam solution is injected into a special liner consisting of a empty bladder surrounding your foot .
As the foam hardens ( 15mn) the foam will fill in precisely the different spaces between the internal shell and your foot
This processing requires a throughout shell and foot preparation
The shell must be anatomically fitted to your foot shape allowing the foam to spread around your foot shape. For this result, we will expand or grind the shell structure.
As any custom made product, this requires time ( circa 2 hours for the entire process). But
The result is beyond expectations for your skiing as well as comfort.
Plus you’ll be trouble free for a while...




Pierre GIGNOUX XP 500 ski mountaineering thermo liner


Liner specially designed in cooperation with Pierre GIGNOUX to fit the lightweight XP 500 carbon ski mountaineering racing shells .
Features: lightweight liner ( 165 grs size 27,5 liner) combining improved forward flex in the ankle area, precision foot mold of the foot with comfort.
The XP 500 liner is based on a INTUITION SPORTS ( Canada) standard liner.

Custom made FIS Regulation racing footbeds
Due to FIS skiboot regulation these footbeds are very thin (3mm) with only 1mm in the toe area to allow a better blood circulation
The power transmission zones are reinforced with special thermodded material

All cycling enthusiasts are aware how important the cycle shoe fit and proper cleat adaptor positioning can be important factors in providing you the best foot position in which power is converted into motion

TOTAL FEET has developed an assessment combining a full video analysis of your cycling gait using your personal cycle on a TACX ® COSMOS  ergotrainer
